Stevens Unveils NEW 555E Over/Under 16 Gauge Shotgun

For many of us, spring is often a time to shake the dust off of our shotguns so we can turn some clay pigeons into dust. It is good fun and good practice for much of the upland bird hunting we may be doing in the fall or even turkey hunting we might try in the spring. One affordable and high-quality model that has sprung forth in the last 5 years is the Stevens 555 Over/Under shotgun. They even offer an upgraded model with a more premium and attractive finish. This enhanced model, the 555E, is now being made available in 16 Gauge as well. The specifications for this recently unveiled chambering can be read below as presented by Stevens:

  • Chrome-Lined Carbon Steel Barrels
  • Turkish Walnut Stock
  • Lightweight Aluminum Receiver w/ Tang-Mounted Safety
  • Single Selective Mechanical Trigger
  • Manual Extractors
  • 5 Interchangeable Choke Tubes

As you can see, the finish of the Turkish walnut stock paired with the silver aluminum receiver is very impressive. Based on looks alone you would believe this is easily a $1K shotgun, but it actually retails for significantly less. Stevens and Savage Arms had this Press Release statement to share to further expand upon their NEW 555E 16 Gauge Over/Under shotgun:

The field- and trap-tested platform is light and handles fast, thanks to a lightweight aluminum receiver that’s scaled to gauge and reinforced by a steel insert. It’s also loaded with features, including a stylish Turkish walnut stock and chrome-lined, 28-inch carbon steel barrels.

For those shooters who are smitten with the 16 Gauge caliber, Stevens offers it now in not only their 555 Enhanced, but also their standard 555 as well. The pricing for each shotgun as well as some additional information can be read below as presented by Stevens:

  • 555 Enhanced 16 Gauge | 28” Barrel | SKU 22179 | MSRP $879
  • 555 16 Gauge | 28” Barrel | SKU 22178 | MSRP $705

So with many clay pigeon leagues starting up soon and more turkeys venturing out into nearby fields to strut their stuff, is this a shotgun that you would want to add to your safe? Do you happen to already own a 555E, but in a different shotgun caliber? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
